The Colorado Association of Cemeteries will be hosting the 10th Bi-annual Cemetery Skills Competition. By John Leavitt The Colorado Association of Cemeteries will be hosting the 10th Bi-annual Cemetery Skills Competition. The event will take place on August 14, 2008 at 10:00 A.M., the location being Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Ave., Colorado Springs. The contestants will participate in seven different disciplines which include: Interment excavation, backhoe obstacle course, funeral equipment set-up, trailer backing, power blower, mowing and trimming. Contestants will be judged and awarded on safety, time, and accuracy. Cemeteries from throughout the state will be represented. We realize the respective news media could make light of this event; however, it is no less meaningful or professional in nature than are the firefighters, paramedics, or protective agencies like events.
